Polishing is a mechanical process. Diamond grinding refines the surface to a mirror or satin sheen. Staining is a colour treatment applied to the surface. The two often go together: we polish first, then apply integral colour or stain, then seal. Polished alone gives you the natural concrete look at high sheen; polished + stained gives you the look plus a custom colour.

Polished concrete is one of the lowest-maintenance floor finishes available. Daily care is dust mopping and damp cleaning with a pH-neutral cleaner. Re-seal every 5 to 7 years (we leave you with the product details at handover). No waxing, no stripping, no buffing required.

Yes, as long as the slab is structurally sound. Cracks and surface damage can usually be repaired before polishing begins. We assess the existing slab at the site visit and tell you what's possible. For badly damaged slabs, a topical overlay or full replacement may be the smarter call.

Sheen levels range from matte (around 320-grit) to satin (800-grit) to high gloss (1500–3000-grit). We bring sample boards to the site visit so you can see and feel each option in your space before deciding. Satin is the popular choice for homes; high gloss is dramatic but shows scuffs more.

Polished concrete on its own is similar to other smooth floor finishes when wet. For areas that may see water, like kitchens, entries, retail, or restaurants, we can apply a slip-resistant sealer or grit additive without changing the visual finish. We discuss this at the design stage based on where the floor is going in.

Once your floor is finished, we walk you through care guidance: dust mopping cadence, cleaner recommendations, when to re-seal, and what to avoid placing directly on the surface. The guidance is tailored to your sheen level and how you'll be using the space.
