Stamped Concrete FAQs
It comes down to how you plan to use the space. Stamped concrete gives you the most design control, with patterns and colour that mimic slate, flagstone, or cobblestone. Exposed aggregate gives you a natural texture and stronger grip when wet, which makes it a common pick for sloped driveways and pool surrounds. We pour both, and we will walk you through the trade-offs on site.

Stamping creates a textured pattern in the concrete surface (like slate, flagstone, or cobblestone) and is done while the concrete is still wet. Staining adds colour to existing concrete after it's cured. Stamping changes the look and feel; staining only changes colour. We mostly recommend stamped + integral colour for premium projects, both effects, single install.
If integral colour is used (mixed into the concrete), the colour goes the full depth of the slab and won't fade with sun exposure. Surface stains can fade over time. We use integral colouring on premium projects so the look holds for decades. Re-sealing every 3–5 years preserves the finish further.
Re-seal every 3–5 years (we provide care guidance at handover), keep the surface clear of standing leaves or organic debris, and rinse with a hose seasonally. That's most of it.
Yes. We bring physical samples to the design consultation so you can hold them up against your existing stone, brick, or hardscape. Pattern, texture, and colour are all dialled in before any concrete is poured.
It depends on the architecture. Modern homes pair well with large-format slate or smooth ashlar. Craftsman and west-coast contemporary homes often work better with random flagstone or cobblestone borders. We make pattern recommendations based on what's already on the property.
Once the stamp is set and sealed, we walk you through care guidance: re-sealing every 3 to 5 years, keeping the surface clear of standing leaves and organic debris, and seasonal hose rinses. That's most of it.
